Y Lan in Montreal

very quick service and less crowded for sure but doesn't mean it's quality food. ordered the bun bo hue and it was nothing outstanding. no richness or thickness to the broth or spiciness for that matter. one of the main ingredients that really makes pho outstanding is the raw beef topping. at y lan, it was served fully cooked

This place has decent pho or vermicelli grilled meats. If you order a lunch menu, They always tend to forget the coffee or the tea and the cookie at the end. But it’s a bring your own wine, so please don’t complain.

Good authentic vietnamese dishes (cha ca, banh tom) , but their pho is just okay. I'd go across the street for the best pho (after my mom's) in mtl. Service is fast and polite.

Went a few times when Pho Tay Ho was too full. I didn’t think it was on the same level but they seem to have their clientele.

Pho Tay Ho happened to be closed on a Saturday night so we thought we'd walk across the street and give Y Lan a try. Awesome restaurant! My wife ordered soup with a chicken base and was pleasantly surprised by the use of leeks and napa cabbage. I ordered the Hué soup and for the first time, I really enjoyed it. One day I'm going to have to try both places, one after the other!

Neither the food nor the service was that great... wasn't terrible, but just not that good. The papaya salad was extremely bland and the Pho just doesn't measure up to other restaurants nearby.

Great family friendly place. Try the soup Poulardine or the sizzling fish.

Pho is not as big of a portion as I would like for the price. I was still hungry after eating the largest size.

Amazing food

I am writing this review over a year late. I haven't had a chance to go back but I dream about the food I had here to this day. I ordered Le Vong, a fish dish... salty, savory and fresh. Just amazing. I ate it alone although it is usually intended for two people to share. Please go here and order this.

Great vietnamese restaurant! Food selection was great! Plates were aesthetically done and generous. One of the best phos i've tasted :)

Y Lan is simply the best. At first we went because Pho Tay Ho was too busy but now we are regulars. Staff is very nice and attentive. Portions are generous and overall service is great. Try the grilled chicken and veggie pho and/also the Bun Bo Hué soup. So darn good!!!!

Place was packed, which is a good sign. Skip the Imperial Rolls, they were bland and were stuffed with cabbage, I think, which is not authentic vietanemese. The Pho was decent, it's the Allspice variety. Food was fresh and well prepared.

Went here looking for some general tao and was not disappointed. I will be returning for sure.

Pho is delicious! I recommend the spicy one, with vermicelli noodles. The place is child friendly and the service is really good. Plus you can bring your own wine.

Best Vietnamese restaurant in Montreal, hands down. All the house specialities are great and deserve too be tried. The La vong fish is just insane and as good as any in Vietnam.

Amazing authentic Vietnamese food! Their sweet potato + shrimp plate is an absolute must. Grilled pork plate is also really delicious. Came here on a Tuesday evening before 6pm and the restaurant was already filling up. Not surprised!

My best Vietnamese restaurant in Montreal, I've going to their place regularly for the last 10 years, never been disappointed.

We wanted to go to Pho Tay Ho, directly across the street, but found it was closed (it was a Tuesday.) So we tried Y Lan. It's not bad at all. (We maybe should've tried the Northern Specialties, but stuck to the normal menu stuff). The service is better than at the usual, crowded Vietnamese place. I don't understand how it can survive directly across the street from the much more special Pho Tay Ho, which is rightly legendary for perfect Pho. But then so-so Chinese restaurants in Chinatown seem to survive for years directly next door to spectacular ones, so who knows?

My favorite Pho in town, it's clean, it's quick!
